The Magic Word

So apparently we have strep.....we shall see when the results come in. Kaia and Kienna have both had high grade fevers for the last couple nights......we went in to the doctor today for a regular check up and he was surprised at how bad their throats were. Sigh. We'll see the results.

I have found, with reference to the word strep, that it's a scary word. When people say the word "strep" red lights start flashing and the world ends. You are no longer in one of those positions where you can just go places. You are confined and are quarantined. People don't mess with strep. I don't blame them.....but I've just noticed this. When you have a fever, people are still willing to have your kids play. The same goes with a cold or with other kinds of sicknesses. They figure that they'll get it anyway......so why not? Strep, however, is a top 5 buzz word from what I've found. Anyway, apparently we'll be staying home for the next few days (or at least until the results come in).

High Grade

So last night, Kaia had a fever of 103.5. She was being so sweet and snuggly that I was feeling very affectionate and I said,

"You know that I love you, right?"
"Yes"
"And you know that I'd do anything for you?"
"Yeah, I told a story about how Daddy would do anything for me in Primary, remember?"
"Yeah, you're pretty lucky to have two parents who love you so much, eh?"
"Yeah, but Heavenly Father loves me too and he can do more for me than you can."
"Yes, that's true....."

I felt a little less important in her life for a minute but then realized that Heavenly Father uses me to give her almost everything that he can because he knows that I'll want to too. Anyway, it was a funny conversation......Leave it to a 5 year old to totally change your perspective.

Bunch of FIRSTS

Kaia has just started a long phase of firsts. She got her first violin, had her first violin lesson, went to her first day of school and today is having her first swimming lesson. She also just discovered her first loose tooth (in fact, her first two) and she's having her first full week of school every morning. She's also starting her first second language. On her first day of school, they were playing a game. She was explaining to me, "The teacher would roll a ball to us and then we would say, 'Apple' and then our names". I was confused by this game and then I figured it out, "oh, did you say, 'J'mapelle Kaia'?". "Yeah, that's what it was".... I don't know that she's understanding the French part of Kindergarten, but she got to paint and so she's in love with school.

Although Kienna isn't having as many firsts, she is having her first days away from Kaia. At the YMCA, she had her first childminding without Kaia. This is a big deal because she isn't as comfortable reaching out and making friends. She did a super good job today and actually told someone that she loves their tutu. She's usually just as content to play on her own, so she doesn't go out of the way to meet people. I was so proud of her for stepping out of her comfort zone and talking to another little girl.....so THAT is a first. She's starting her first swimming lessons today and she's having her first week without Kaia. She's really missing Kaia, but she's been excited about the one on one time that has become available with me for the first time in a long time. It's been fun for both of us.

Saryn is growing like crazy. She's getting some more molars (not her very first, but still her baby teeth is her first set, right?). She just started sleeping in her first big girl bed and she's saying her first sentences very well. She also had another first the other day......she did her first tattle tale. After Kienna wouldn't give her the pencil crayon she wanted, she ran into the living room and said, "Mom, Kienna hit on purpose." Kienna actually hadn't hit her, but since she was mad at Kienna, she figured this was the appropriate thing to say. Can't imagine where she had heard that!?!

Jarett is not in his first year of school, but he's back at it. He's starting up his first classes of the year for his second year in both the Law and the MBA programs (third year overall, leaving one year after this one). One of his firsts, that I'm super proud of, is how much he is working out and eating well. He currently weighs less than he has since his mission and is still going down. I'm so proud of all the effort he is putting into this and I'm sure he will reach his goals as he continues to work so hard. He is already busy as can be to make sure he doesn't get behind in his schooling and he's preparing for all his job applications for next summer and hopefully his articling position.

Of course, I'm also having my first baby boy soon and this is my first year being a school mom. I have a big schedule coming up and it'll be great. Super busy, but great. Between swimming lessons, violing lessons, piano lessons (I've downsized it to 6 students) and school.....along with working out, and having Jarett at school for all hours of the day again.....I'm having my first super busy mom schedule. I'm excited for this school year. It'll be crazy, but I'm hoping it will be worth it.

(of course, I have a million pictures to go with each of these firsts, but they will all have to be added when my computer has room for the pictures and when my computer will let me upload things again - and of course, that will feel like a first!!)

Computers...

So I have about 3 or 4 posts that I've been wanting to put up, but since my computer has decided to be a tad bit difficult with me, I can't upload ANY pictures or anything else. Any settings that I would have to adjust would completely crash my computer, so it's making it difficult to develop any posts. In the last month, I have had my computer:

not be able to turn on due to the cord corrupting
the motherboard replaced
unable to find the hard drive
touch pad disconnected to the computer
media cord fail
the BIOS unable to update
my windows unable to update
not be able to upload pictures or files to email or anything else

and the list can continue.... now, I wouldn't know what half of those things were as of a month ago, but I now know how to access all of these things. Anyway, I guess this is a long way of saying....I will be updating my blog soon, as soon as my stupid computer cooperates.
Here's to a better month.....
